President's Message

It’s been a big six months for the Club. With a small number of members, I feel that we have certainly “punched above our weight”, with Pride of Workmanship Awards, Murphy’s Pigs Concert, Amy Shark Concert, Junior Craft Awards, Ageing Well Seniors Morning Teas, Dementia Friendly Awareness BBQ, Hospital Refurbishment Project, Lift the Lid Mental Health Breakfast, Christmas Ham Wheel, Eastern Colour Christmas Party, numerous Stanthorpe !50 Anniversary Events and probably a few other activities that I can’t remember. We have been “busy little beavers”.
I thank you all for your hard work in serving our community. It’s been a year of good fellowship and I look forward to the next six months (but maybe not so busy!).
Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
President Jim Barnes

Satellite Club cater for combined Stanthorpe Club Christmas Party

Thank you to all the Satellite Members for putting on such a delicious spread for our Annual Club Christmas get together which was held at Ballandean Estate.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Eastern Colour Christmas Party

The Club had the pleasure of catering for the Eastern Colour Christmas Party. Workers (including many overseas workers from the Pacific islands and Asia and their families enjoyed the festivities. The Islanders treated the crowd to some cultural dances; each nationality trying to outdo the others. Such good fun to be part of.

District Grant Hospital Refurbishment Project

At last the Hospital Refurbishment Project has been completed. Scheduled before CoVid. the project has been on hold until this year. The barren, unfriendly entry to the Mental Health Building has been transformed into an inviting and calming space. With the assistance of a District Grant and the generosity of local artists, Laurie Astill and Julie Brown, carpet tiles have been laid, three murals adorn the walls and potted plants also add colour to the space.
May be an image of 2 people, people standing and indoor
Since the murals are within the building and not accessible to the public a public viewing and celebratory Garden Party will be held in the new year. Over the years the Rotary Club of Stanthorpe has undertaken a number of projects at the Stanthorpe Hospital.
Pride of Workmanship Award
President Jim Barnes had the pleasure of presenting a Pride of Workmanship Award to Carmel Mahoney for her 40 years of service with the St Vincent de Paul Society in Stanthorpe.

Julie Beddow organises the Meals on Wheels helpers.  This year Rotary provided Rotary Puddings as a special Christmas treat for community recipients.
Satellite Club's "Waste Not Want Not Project" has provided much enjoyment and fellowship for our Satellite group and Friends of Rotary.  Ros & Trish were there for the Friday with others on Saturday morning.
Spinning the Wheel to decide the winner of the ham was awarded to the young children of the winning family.  Congratulations and thanks to winners and Rotarian supporters.
