President Julia's Message.

This Monday 8th March we will be hearing a presentation from a local on the Theme of this Month in Rotary, All about Water and Sanitation in our Area.  Bring along your questions. Guests Welcome.

President Elect Jim Baxter and Satellite Club Chair Jo Bell are attending the PETS this weekend at the coast so they will have plenty to share with us all about their plans in the coming months.

Jim Baxter is gathering a team together for the BBQ at Amiens School Centenary which will be on Sunday 28th March.  Please check your calendar so you can put your name on the Roster to help. (it was cancelled due to Covid19 last year).

Can you help at the BBQ at the Amiens School Centenary?

Thank you to Julie Beddow for all her organisation behind the events and for standing in for me in my Holiday Absence.  Julie and I are working to update the Events Calendar, we do have a busy schedule coming up.

Last Monday we had a board meeting.  We also had a Membership Committee meeting and have the invitations to go out for the Welcome to Stanthorpe Event on 29th March. If you know of a person who has recently come to town, I will be bringing along an invitation for you to give to them on Monday.  We also have some keen “future Rotarians” who have been completing Expression of Interest forms soon to be circulated.

There have also been other committee meetings for Autumn Race Day and the team is promoting that.  If you see it on Facebook, remember please to Share.  Jim Barnes has put it up on our Rotary Facebook.  This is a new event, so please spread the word to locals as well as out of town.  We will be looking for some gifts for the Multi Draw raffle, so if you would like to give a gift for this, please let me know.  We are currently seeking a coordinator for prizes.  More information to come on this.

Last Tuesday we shared with locals to hear “Black Dog” Wayne Wigham’s presentation.  I have put a story on our Webpage.  A very informative presentation.  Wayne asked the question "Who do you have the most conversation with?" Of course its yourself.  That nonstop internal dialogue.  When you have depression, that becomes very negative.  If you hear that inner voice telling you nonstop negative thoughts, seek help straight away.  Sometimes all you need is an antidepressant.  If you have a cold you get a tablet for it - Depression is an illness also and needs treatment too.

An important take home message was “Don’t give up on your friends,  Everybody needs praise.  Remember to tell people they are great.  And most importantly be proud of yourself”.

So from your President, thank you for all you do, without you, there is no Rotary.

We also were informed about Survival 101 and the presenters demonstrated an action.

It went from serious dialogue, to an action technique for survival. Survival101 are seeking sponsorship for Youth.  More information on this will be forthcoming.

Apple and Grape Festival are seeking sponsors for a Young Ambassador for 2022 Event and the board has a Young Ambassador in mind and once more information is to hand and this is confirmed, we will get a team involved to help with Fundraising for this project.  Get those ideas ticking and write them down.

Joke of the Week for those like myself who went to the Dentist this week.

Quote of the Week

"It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change". Charles Darwin, 1809

Keep up the helpful “people of action” work you do for, family, friends, work and our community.

Have a wonderful work.

Julia
